Welcome to East African Cuisine, where every dish tells a story of cultural fusion and culinary heritage. Our menu is a delightful blend of flavors from Arab, Indian, Portuguese, and Bantu African influences, creating a unique and vibrant dining experience.
For centuries, these rich culinary traditions have been handed down through generations, with each recipe carrying the essence of East Africa’s diverse history. Our dishes are crafted with secret recipes that have been lovingly preserved by families, ensuring that every bite is a taste of authenticity.
In the Netherlands, we take pride in offering homemade dishes that are truly unique. From our sumptuous Biryani and Mandi to our delicious Samosas and sweet Swahili Doughnuts, each item is made with the utmost care and dedication to tradition.
At East African Cuisine, we invite you to join us on a culinary journey that celebrates the heritage and flavors of East Africa, right here in Holland.
Who We Are
East African Cuisine is the first and only traditional Swahili catering company in the Netherlands. We bring the flavours of the Kenyan and Tanzanian coast to Rotterdam, The Hague and the wider Zuid Holland and Noord Holland region. Our work is rooted in heritage, hospitality and the belief that food carries memory, identity and connection.
What We Do

We prepare authentic Swahili dishes using traditional methods, fresh ingredients and coastal spices. Our menu includes sambusa, veggie bajia, fish cutlets, chips masala, pilau, coconut beans, kuku wa sekela, vitumbuwa and a range of homemade dipping sauces like mango and coconut chutney and sweet tamarind.
We cater for corporate events, office lunches, weddings, birthdays, community gatherings and cultural festivals. Every order is customizable, from small platters to full event catering. We deliver across Rotterdam, The Hague and surrounding cities, and we support clients with planning, quantities and menu selection.
Our work is not just cooking. It is introducing a cuisine that many people in the Netherlands have never experienced before. It is explaining flavours, sharing stories and helping people discover something new and warm and comforting.
How We Take On the Challenge
Being the only traditional Swahili caterer in the Netherlands means we often meet people who do not yet know what Swahili food is. They ask if it is spicy, if it is halal, if it is African or Indian or something in between. We take this as an opportunity, not a barrier.
We offer free tasting sessions so people can try our food without hesitation. A single bite of sambusa or pilau often answers more questions than words ever could. These tastings have helped companies, families and event organisers understand the beauty of Swahili cuisine and trust us with their events.
We also take part in food festivals, cultural markets and community events across Rotterdam, The Hague Zuid Holland and Noord Holland. When people see our stand, smell the spices and watch us prepare fresh snacks, curiosity turns into excitement. Event by event, we are changing how Swahili food is seen in the Netherlands.
Why This Matters to Customers
Customers choose us because they want something warm, authentic and different from the usual catering options. They want food that tells a story and brings people together. They want flavours that feel new but comforting. They want a caterer who is reliable, friendly and committed to quality.
We help customers by offering clear communication, flexible menus, halal options, delivery across Zuid Holland and Noord Holland and a service that feels personal. Every platter and every event is prepared with care.
Why This Matters to Candidates
Working with us means joining a growing movement. You become part of a team that is introducing Swahili cuisine to a new country, shaping how people experience East African food and building a brand with cultural pride.
Candidates who join us learn traditional cooking methods, event preparation, customer service and the art of storytelling through food. They become ambassadors of Swahili culture in Rotterdam, The Hague and beyond. They help us grow, innovate and reach more people.
We look for people who are passionate about food, culture, hospitality and community. People who enjoy working in a fast‑growing environment where every day brings something new. People who want to be part of something meaningful.
The Impact We Are Making
